We have a love/hate relationship with keys. We love getting into our house at night, but hate lugging around the jangly mess everyday. I have searched for years to find a workable solution. I tried the Nite Ize Key Rack, and it works ok if you use the all metal one. (DO NOT GET THE ONE WITH THE PLASTIC S CLIPS, THEY’RE TRASH). However, I found it to be too big and sloppy for my tastes.
Before that, I had tried many other methods, but all left me wanting more. Or less actually. The main thing I want is all my keys into the most compressed, smallest package possible.
Enter the KeySmart. Since I am not a janitor or property manager, I ordered the base model. It can hold up to 8 keys. My current setup only has 4 keys on it (Home, Office, PO Box, Truck Box). On their site, they said you can get setups that will hold dup to 100 keys. I would like to visit this man and understand where his life went wrong.
I would like to attach a USB drive to it as well, but the one I currently am using has a hole too small to work. I think I can correct this with some very minor drill work. I’ll update on this after the attempt.
It includes a loop (uses one of your key slots) so you can connect to truck key etc… I added one of the small metal Nite Ize S Binders and use that to hold temporary keys and/or USB Drives I am using. It does not create much clutter when not in use.

Installation of the keys is very simple. An added touch is that they sent an email with a one minute video on how to do it on the day it was to arrive. Why doesn’t everyone do this? (Attach video) Basically, you unscrew the caps, add your keys, then add the included small washers until they are flush with the top of the bolt. (See Pic). Then you put the top back on and tighten the screws. The washers hold the shape and keep the keys tight so they move only when you want them to.
EDC aficionados always have the overfull pocket issue. KeySmart shrunk my pocket back down to a reasonable volume. Now what can I add with all that free space.
If you want to shrink your pocket slop, KeySmart is a great solution for you.
SPECIAL NOTE/HACK; Keep your vehicle key and fob as one setup and all you other keys on another. Shrinks your pocket as you don’t have to turn off your car every tie you need your keys. Also, when out at night you can leave house keys etc… in your vehicle. Lessens the pocket bulge. You can really ruin a good pair of jeans/chinos with 6 pounds of crap stuffed in the pockets. Dean Martin (THE resource on looking cool) famously would not take the stage with anything in his pockets because it ruined the line of his suit.
As always, if it is linked, assume I am making some money if you buy.
